A Guyuexuan ‘Pheasant’ vase is displayed (left) after being sold for $14.89 million at a Sotheby’s auction in Hong Kong on Sunday. It fetched the highest price at an auction in Asia for a work of art and set a world record for Qing porcelain. The vase, 16.5 cm high and decorated with a pair of pheasants on a flowering branch, dates from the reign of the Qianlong emperor and is one of the most famous and desired types of porcelain of the Qing dynasty.
