It's strategy, stupid!

Football is all about strategy. Ask any coach. Or the cognoscenti. 4-2-4, 4-3-3. At times, 1-9 ? the one being the only one upfront.

You see coaches paid millions of dollars sitting with cheap pencil and pad in the dugout, drawing all manner of lines that will put Pablo Picasso to shame and animatedly discussing them with the assistant who then feverishly draws some more.

All for a round object to travel from one place to another with the intention of finally getting caught up in a net.

A genius, or maybe a group of geniuses, has shown us how stupid this on-field and backroom “strategising” ? to use an even stupider management jargon ? is.

The set of drawings the person or the group has put on the Net and which is now circulating as frenetically as Ronaldinho’s runs through rival defences is the new Bible of soccer strategy. It could throw costly coaches like Sven-Goran Eriksson and Carlos Alberto Parreira out of work.

On left is Soccer Strategy Made Simple. We present it with our heads bowed in respect for the brilliance of its author(s).
