The 60th convocation of premier B-school XLRI, Jamshedpur, will be held on April 2, a rite of passage XLers will remember all their lives.

As many as 587 students will receive their certificates and medals in this diamond jubilee convocation.

The 17 Indian students of 2014-16 batch will also receive a joint certification from a consortium of all the three B-schools.

XLRI director Father E. Abraham said: "Convocation is an important milestone in life of every student and teacher. It is the culmination of all the efforts put in by them on the campus. This year is extremely significant for us as we will celebrate our 60th convocation."

This year, XLRI will also confer the prestigious Sir Jehangir Ghandy Medal for Industrial and Social Peace on Sunil Kant Munjal, joint managing director, Hero MotoCorp, and chairman, Hero Corporate Services.

Currently a member of Prime Minister's Council on Trade and Industry, Munjal will also deliver the convocation address.

Father Abraham said Munjal was involved in preparing several socio-economic reports on skill development, vocational training, CSR and tribal development. "He is the guiding force behind many educational institutes in the country. A far-sighted thinker, Munjal has not only made noteworthy contributions to business and industry, but also has been instrumental in making significant impact on various socio-economic reforms in India," said the XLRI director.

The Sir Jehangir Ghandy Medal, instituted by XLRI in 1966 in honour of the former chairman of the XLRI board of governors, is awarded to industry leaders who have contributed towards India's growth in a significant way.
