Jamshedpur, Jan. 19: Village pradhans of extremist-affected hamlets under the Ghatshila subdivision will monitor the performance of primary, middle and high school government teachers.
The pradhans will also recommend the salaries of school teachers on the basis of their attendance in the class.
East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Sunil Kumar Burnwal announced this while addressing a meeting of village heads at the TMDC Auditorium this afternoon. In all, 180 pradhans and members of Majhi Parganas from the Dumaria, Dhalbhumgarh, Chakulia, Musaboni and Ghatshila blocks participated in the meeting.
“Issues related to education and health cannot be compromised with. Teachers and doctors found avoiding their duties will either be dismissed or their job contracts will be terminated,” Burnwal said.
He said non-tribal teachers would be given training in the Santhali language and would be deputed in the blocks where the teachers’ problem exist.
Teachers who attend travel to their schools from Jamshedpur would be asked to stay at the place of posting, otherwise they would be compelled to leave, he said.
The deputy commissioner warned the doctors, especially those absorbed by the state government on contract basis, to be careful while on duty.
“Those doctors are not permanent government employees and they can be easily dismissed if the Gram Vikas Samity finds any serious complaint against them.”
Burnwal said a meeting of village heads would be held every month either in Jamshedpur or in Ghatshila to monitor the development process in the sub-division.
Besides, the block development officers would have to hold weekly meetings every Tuesday to take stock of the progress made. An official from the deputy commissioner’s office would be present.
