Jamshedpur, March 9: A galaxy of eminent Urdu poets across the country will congregate here on March 11 to take part in a mushiara contest, to be organised as a part of annual function of Anjuman Taraqqui-e-Urdu (Hind), a city-based literary organisation.
Sanjay Choudhary, chairman of the organising committee and chief of corporate communications, Tata Steel, told The Telegraph that more than a dozen poets have confirmed their participation at the meet.
Such an event is being organised after a gap of over a decade, Choudhary added.
Some of the prominent poets include Tahir Faraz, Waheed Salaonvi, Atik Allahabadi, Tazvar Sultana Taaz and Nuzhat Anjum (all from Uttar Pradesh), Haider Nazmi (Mumbai), Moin Shaadab (New Delhi), Bagiz Bihari (Calcutta) and Mumtaz Jaan Ada (Bangalore).
Two local Urdu poets ? Joga Singh Anwar and Shaida Chini ? will also perform at the Mushiara contest, which will be organised at the Gopal Maidan from 9 pm.
On the same day, the prestigious Hazrat Ameer Khusrao National Award will be bestowed upon Janab Kavish Badri, an eminent Urdu poet based in Tamil Nadu.
Badri rose to the limelight after he had written a long epic ?Shradhanjali? on the demise of Jawaharlal Nehru in 1965. His work received appreciation from both Urdu and Hindi scholars.
Jharkhand governor Syed Sibtey Razi will present the national award to Badri at a function slated to be held at the Michael John auditorium. This will be the third year of the award, instituted by Anjuman Taraqqui-E- Urdu (Hind).
The first two recipients of the award include Shamsur Rahman Farooqui, vice-chairman, national council for promotion of Urdu language and Prakash Fikri, a poet of national repute based in Ranchi.
