Twenty20 hints sparkling Saturday - Keenan Stadium witnesses Ishank Jaggi magic

Jamshedpur, Dec. 28: Tata Steel Cricket Centre (TSCC) and Sabuj Kalyan Sangha Cricket Academy (SKSCA) will clash tomorrow in the first semi-final of the Twenty20 Centenary Cricket Cup for coaching centres.

The other semi-final match slated for tomorrow would be between Cable Cricket Academy (CCA) and Jarial Cricket Academy (JCA).

Powered by an unbeaten 76 from Abhishek Ganguly, TSCC faced no difficulty in defeating School of Cricket (Kadma) by 12 runs at Keenan Stadium today. Ganguly struck 13 boundaries in his innings.

Electing to bat first, the former scored 144 for seven in the stipulated 20 overs. Prashant Rahul (22) and Sumitabh Kumar (15) also came up with handy contributions. Sanjeev Kumar picked up two wickets for the losing outfit while Sushil Pandey and Rahul Kumar claimed one wicket apiece.

School of Cricket managed 132 for eight when they ran out of overs. Amit Sagar chipped in with 38 while Sapan Banerjee scored 27. Kalicharan and Rahul Kumar managed 14 and 11 runs, respectively.

State under-seamer Varun Aaron claimed three wickets whereas Mithun Mukherjee and Prashant Rahul took two wickets each.

The other match at the same venue saw SKSCA thrash Jamshedpur School of Cricket (JSC) by nine wickets to reach the semi-final. The latter managed a meagre 76 before being all out in 19 overs.

In reply, SKSCA romped home in style, in just 12 overs. Manish Patel scored 39 with six boundaries to emerge as the top scorer while Ajit Dwivedi and Abhishek Rawat contributed 16 and 15 runs, respectively.

Meanwhile, state under-19 captain Ishank Jaggi scored 91 to aid JCA’s four-run win over Jharkhand Cricket Academy at Armoury grounds.

Jaggi clobbered the bowling attack striking 15 fours and a six. The young opener was unstoppable and hammered the ball to all corners of the park, helping his side score 176 for eight in the allocated overs.

Ashok Yadav (25), Pratik Kumar (15) and Sanjay (10) also helped their team’s cause. Shahbaz Nadeem and R. Mallick picked up three wickets each while K.K. Singh took one wicket for Jharkhand Cricket Academy.

Chasing, Jharkhand Cricket Academy looked in control till midway through their innings. Vishal emerged as the top scorer with an unbeaten 42 with five boundaries while Abhishek scored 36 with as many fours. Jaggi displayed his all-round qualities by snaring two wickets while Pankaj Singh picked up two wickets. Surjeet Yadav and Binod Kumar claimed one each.

CCA also assured themselves a slot in the semi-final by defeating School of Cricketers (Dhanbad) by 68 runs at the same venue.

Powered by a 51 and 48 by Raymond and Kamal, respectively, CCA scored 168 for six. Yuvraj and Kishore chipped in with 18 and 16 runs, respectively. Surjeet and Sanay claimed two wickets each while Sandeep took a wicket.

The Dhanbad outfit was all out for just 100 in 17 overs. Neeraj Agarwal scored the highest with 33 while Surjeet and Munna managed 19 and 13, respectively.

Raymond took three wickets to play a vital role in making batsmen exit the crease in quick intervals.
