Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society (JSDMS) has invited private companies to partner it for establishing, operating and maintaining mega skill training centres in the state on public-private partnership (PPP) mode.
Principal secretary in state higher and technical education department, Ajay Kumar Singh, informed this during a CSR conclave held at a Ranchi hotel on Thursday.
"We have invited companies of national and international repute to come up with technical and financial proposals to set up mega skill centres. The companies with an annual turnover of Rs 100 crore or above can establish such centres on their own or jointly with other business houses. Even smaller ones that have turnover of Rs 10 core or more can be involved if they sign an MoU with the state government," said Singh during a session on "Driving for economic equality through skill development, employability and entrepreneurship".
He added that the state government would bear the cost of training.
Citing the reason for the need to set up such training centres in the state, Singh said that infrastructure of higher education in Jharkhand was poor. "Only 5.25 lakh of total 39 lakh eligible youths in the age group of 18 to 23 years have access to higher education. Besides, only 10 per cent of the educated youth is employable as there is a gap between their learning and demand in various industries," he said.
According to the official website of JSDMS, the companies will be finalised through e-tendering, which began on October 27 and last date of submission of bids is November 19. The technical proposals will open at 1pm on November 21.
The conclave, organised jointly by Poorest Area Civil Society (PACS) and FICCI, discussed the scope and future perspective in providing basic services, skills and livelihood through CSR. Around 30 speakers, including senior government officials, spoke in four sessions, including "Achieving better education and health outcome in the state through CSR" and "Changing paradigm of development, scope and importance of working in collaboration (government-private-civil society), spread over the day.
