Seventh pay scale in place

New salaries effective January 1, 2016

Ranchi, Jan. 16: State government employees, pensioners and beneficiaries of family pension scheme will be paid as per the seventh pay commission recommendations effective January 1, 2016, the state cabinet resolved today.

The order comes into force immediately. However, the arrears will be given in two equal instalments in the next two financial years.

"The seventh pay scale benefits being given to Central government employees have been incorporated by the state government in toto. It will cost the state exchequer an additional Rs 1,800 crore per annum under salary head and another Rs 700 crore per annum under pension head," said planning and finance department secretary (expenditure) Satyendra Singh.

According to the new scale, the minimum monthly salary of a state employee will be Rs 18,000 plus dearness allowance, while the maximum monthly pay will work out to Rs 2,09,200 plus variable dearness allowance.

The minimum monthly pension will be Rs 9,000 plus dearness allowance. Currently, 2 per cent dearness allowance under the seventh revised pay scale.

Women's college

Chief minister Raghubar Das led the silver jubilee celebrations of Madhupur sub-division on Monday and announced that a women's college, named after Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, would come up in the area soon.

Japanese interest

Japanese consul-general in Calcutta Masayuki Taga called on chief minister Raghubar Das on Monday, informing him that several companies were interested in investing in Jharkhand.
