East Singhbhum district administration and police have geared up to conduct Ram Navami festivities smoothly on Friday and Saturday.
In a directive issued to nearly 150 licensed Ram Navami akharas that will take out processions on Friday (April 15) and immersion rallies the next day, Dhalbhum SDO Suraj Kumar asked office bearers to ensure only those volunteers sporting ID cards handed by police stations concerned were allowed.
"Patrolling teams will monitor the processions to see if all participants are wearing identity cards. We will be very strict this time. We have already told akhara committees to collect identity cards of volunteers from police stations," said the Dhalbhum SDO.
The SDO has also directed the akhara committees to ensure their volunteers did not brandish weapons or firearms during the processions.
"There will be two-tier videography of the processions, at the levels of the administration and akhara committee. If a volunteer is found brandishing firearms or weapons, the licence of the akhara committee will be cancelled.
The onus of keeping volunteers in check is on akhara committee officials. They are also free to lodge complaints against volunteers with local police or by calling up control room numbers (100 or 2431030)," SDO Kumar said.
The akhara committee have also been asked to ensure volunteers did not burst crackers or show martial arts spectacles with fire.
"We have also asked state-owned fire stations in city and corporate units like Tata Motors and Tata Steel to be on alert during April 16," the SDO said.
JUVNL has also been directed to cut electricity supply in areas where the processions are on to prevent the tall flags from touching live overhead wires.
All local urban bodies, Jamshedpur and Mango notified area committees, Jugsalai Municipality and Jusco along with corporate players and NGOs with water tanks have also been asked to be deployed on roads to be used by devotees during the procession to quench their thirst.
Divers from the civil defence and Tata Steel security will also be deployed on April 16 to prevent any mishap during the immersion ceremony at the ghats on the banks of Subernarekha and Kharkai.
A joint directive issued by East Singhbhum DC Amitabh Kaushal and SSP Anoop T. Mathew on Tuesday evening stated that over 800 police personnel comprising JAP, district police and RAF will be deployed during the processions.
