Ranchi, Dec. 19: The Chanho police shot at an alleged criminal while he was trying to flee with a stolen motorbike last night, reports our correspondent.

The man, identified as Mustafa (24), has been admitted to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences and his condition is said to be critical at present.

A resident of the Logardaga district, said police sources, Mustafa and his friend were on a stolen bike travelling towards Theri Bridge, under Chanho police station, when the police intercepted them. When they did not stop, in spite of repeated warnings, the police had to shoot him, sources added.

But the pillion rider and Mustafa?s friend managed to escape.
