Hazaribagh: The government establishments housed on the ground floor of the Curzon Stadium here that inconvenience sportspersons will soon be shifted out of the games facility, Hazaribagh Sadar MLA Manish Jaiswal said on Sunday.
Jaiswal said he raised the matter in the Assembly on Friday following which state parliamentary minister Saryu Roy assured him that the district administration is searching for a suitable location to shift the offices soon.
Jaiswal added that the government had also sanctioned Rs 1 crore for the renovation of the facility.
The stadium was constructed in 1985 and has since hosted two important Ranji Trophy matches, one between Bihar and Tripura in 1987 and another between Bihar and Odisha in 1988.
However, for the past two decades, Nehru Yuva Kendra, National Cadet Corp, Sakshar Bharat Mission and Rashtriya Bal Shramik Paryojana use the 10 ground-floor rooms as their offices.
These rooms were built to serve as hostel for players. The offices impede setting up of helpdesks and other facilities during sporting events.
"I first raised the issue during the budget session in 2015,"Jaiswal said and added that he was happy that the facility would now be used solely for sports which it is meant for.
