Hazaribagh, Jan. 20: A team from the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), comprising two top officials, today visited Hazaribagh to monitor the progress of three coal mining projects.
Director (operations) N.N. Mishra and executive director (fuel security) S.N. Goel inspected the ongoing work at Pankri-Barwadih in Barkagaon and sought details about the other two projects at Chattibarittu and Keredari. The two also met district deputy commissioner Ravindra Kumar Agarwal and had a discussion on various issues, especially expediting the process of land acquisition for the three projects.
Mishra informed Agarwal about the community social responsibility (CSR) programmes of NTPC. He promised that more social welfare programmes would be initiated soon.
At Urub village, where Pakri-Barwadih coal mining project is coming up, Mishra and Goel surveyed the area from a forest tower. They also interacted with local villagers.
According to sources, Mishra enquired about the houses being provided to land losers at NTPC R&R colony in Dhenga and Barkagaon. He was told that the land acquisition process was in progress and NTPC was giving a compensation of Rs 10 lakh per acre in addition to an annual annuity of Rs 30,000 per acre for 30 years.
On the occasion, Mishra distributed sewing machines to women, who had successfully completed a three-month sewing course sponsored by the NTPC at Barkagoan.
