Jamshedpur, Sept. 25: Numbers failing them miserably, the BJP leaders are now turning to ideology to turn the political tide in their favour.
At a function organised by the party to mark the birth anniversary of eminent ideologue Deen Dayal Upadhyay, the BJP leaders called for a revival of the “politics of ideology” and “introspection” to ascertain the mistakes that did to their unbecoming.
Former chief minister Arjun Munda, who recently faced the heat of political crossovers, asked the rank and file to be on their toes and thwart the invasion of misguided groups into the corridors of power.
“This is like a challenge for us. We have big responsibilities ahead as groups without any ideologies are taking over the reins of power and we have to confront them,” Munda told the BJP activists.
Jamshedpur (West) legislator Sarayu Roy, too, acknowledged an “emergency” in political ideology and said politicians were making a mockery of the Constitution.
“A lot of unwarranted situations are being imposed on us and we have to accept them helplessly,” Roy said.
Roy also insinuated a dig at chief minister and Independent MLA Madhu Koda when he thundered about the people who do not have any ideology to support their beliefs. Those who do not have any ideology or policy are leading the government and parties with ideology are crippled, low in self-respect and confidence, Roy further said.
“This is a very unfortunate situation,” he added, “In these circumstances, the views of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya are quite relevant. He always advocated the politics of ideology. If we are to frame policies for the state or the country we must follow the politics of ideology.”
According to Roy, compromises are “alright” as long as they do not violate the fundamental norms, underlining the recent political turmoil.
State BJP vice-president Dinesh Anand Goswami came down hard on the “appeasement” policy of a few parties, which, he said, was just aimed at consolidating their positions in power.
