Global platform for school students

Ranchi, Nov. 13: The first-of-its-kind in the city — Sapphire International School — will start the admission process for the 2007 academic session tomorrow.

Briefing newspersons, primary section headmistress Rohini Lowe said they would launch the registration process for enrolling students from preparatory to Class VI tomorrow onwards.

The school would charge Rs 60,000 to Rs 70,000 annually for day scholars. Lunch and evening snacks would be provided for. Boarders would have to pay between Rs 1.75 lakh and Rs 1.95 lakh per annum. Besides this, a one-time fee ranging between Rs 45,500 and Rs 60,500 would be applicable for all.

Boarding facilities are, however, available only for students of Class III and above.

The under-construction school building will open its doors to students by February next year and the classes are scheduled to take place from April, 2007.

“Gradually we would upgrade upto Class XII. We aim to turn every student into a sapphire,” said Lowe, who has taught in many international schools including Pathways in Delhi, Indus Valley in Bangalore and Scottish High in Gurgaon.

Rohit Sahu, chairperson of Kishore Sahu Memorial Educational and Charitable Trust, responsible for setting up the school, said: “The focus of the school is to turn students into complete individuals. We will try to give them quality education, as we want them to excel not only in academics but in all fields of life,” he said.

The brochure would cost Rs 500, while the registration and security fee is Rs 5,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively. A security deposit of Rs 20,000 for day scholars and Rs 35,000 for boarders would also be charged.

The annual fee from preparatory to Class II would be Rs 60,000 and Rs 70,000 respectively. The weekly boarders would have to pay Rs 1.75 lakh per annum, while term boarders would be charged Rs 20,000 more, Sahu informed.

Spread over 30 acres of beautifully landscaped area, the school would have separate hostels for boys and girls as well as separate kitchens for vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. The school would also house a separate swimming pool for beginners.

Different sports would also be on offer at the campus such as archery, horse riding, skating and rifle shooting. Games like hockey, football, tennis and athletics would also be a part of the curriculum, said Sahu. The school would hire professional security agencies across the campus.

The management will hold seminars in Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Hazaribagh, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Ramgarh from November 18.
