Ranchi, May 4: It’s summer time and camp organisers across the city are offering fun packages.

From learning flamingo and yoga to region specific culture classes on Nepal, Bengal, Bhojpuri, Maithali and Nagpuri — students have plenty to choose from. Theatre classes are also on the cards. A 25-day theatre workshop is being held at the International Library and Cultural Centre (ILCC) by Mukund Nayak.

Calcutta-based Padatik Dance World is also holding a summer workshop at Little Angel’s Nursery School, which started today. The centre has branches in Nepal, Tripura, Meghalaya, Assam, Delhi and Jamshedpur. It has 37 branches in Calcutta itself.

The training camp will be open to children between 3 and 21 years. The institute will impart classes in salsa, hip-hop, jazz, flamingo, cha-cha and classical dance.

Around 23 students have registered for the jazz workshop today. The registration cost is Rs 400 and the monthly fee ranges between Rs 350 and Rs 400. “Classes would be held for three hours every Sunday,” said the co-ordinator of the workshop and school principal Sandhya Bagla.

Meanwhile, the proprietor of the Aqua World Pratul Shahdeo said they are going to start a summer holiday series from May 11 to June 15. “We are going to depict the culture of every region — from Nepal to Maithali, Bhojpuri and Nagpuri,” Shahdeo added.

Shahdeo said the programme would be ethnic.

“We would organise a song, dance, food and quiz competition based on the Nepali culture,” he said. “On the concluding day, a kids’ day out would be organised for children,” he added.
