The district administration here has decided to set up sanitising chambers across the state capital for officials and employees of the administration who are engaged in the fight against the novel coronavirus at a time Ranchi has reported seven positive cases, all from Hindpiri locality.

The first sanitising chamber is being set up near the Church Complex on Main Road that connects the heart of the capital with Hindpiri, which has been completely sealed after the detection of the cases.

Labourers on Friday were seen fixing a metal kiosk and attaching pipes through which sanitiser will be automatically sprayed on the person passing through the chamber.

“This sanitising chamber will be functional within a couple of days. In the coming days such chambers will be set up in other parts of the district also,” Ranchi deputy commissioner Rai Mahimapat Ray said on Friday.

The chamber can disinfect a person from head to toe in five seconds and the solution used is completely harmless for humans, officials said.

At one time, only one person will be allowed to enter. Some staff will be deployed at the chambers to guide people on about how to use the system. A person entering the chamber will have to raise their hands with their head facing the front of the chamber.

There will be a number of nozzles to spray the chemical.
