Bollywood take on Bhojpuri - september date for priya gill starrer

Ranchi, Aug. 27: Bhojpuri films have come a long way to offer space to renowned filmstars, including Amitabh Bachchan.

Actress Priya Gill of Josh and Sirf Tum fame was in the city on a two-day visit to promote her first Bhojpuri film Piya Tohse Naina Lage, which will also feature local star Akhilesh Pandey.

Produced under the Triveni Films International banner, the movie has been shot in Uttrakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Nepal and is slated for a nationwide release on September 29.

While speaking to The Telergaph Gill said: “This is my first visit to Ranchi. It was indeed refreshing to see the greenery around the city. I also enjoyed the langar here.”

While talking about her role in the film she said: “It was a different experience but I enjoyed every bit of it. Though it was difficult to understand the nuances of the language initially I managed the dialogues well.”

Asked why she chose a Bhojpuri film, Gill said the only thing that mattered to her was the story line. “The movie has a good script and is not obscene or vulgar in any way.”

Her co-star Pandey, an engineer by profession, is passionate about acting.

He has taken acting lessons from well-known artiste Ajay Malkani Malkani who is incidentally the creative director of the movie.

During her stay, Gill visited the gurdwara where a number of children were waiting to meet her.

She also spent sometime at the Guru Nanak Home for the Handicapped with special children.

She participated in a tree planting ceremony at Gandhi Ashram, Dhurwa and also attended a, Bhojpuri Samaj function held at local zilla school.
