Dhanbad, Jan. 21: NIT-Patna professor D.K. Singh today took charge as the full-time director of BIT-Sindri, the lone government-owned engineering college in Jharkhand.
Singh, who also happens to be an alumnus of BIT-Sindri, Singh said the incubation centre at the campus would help aspiring entrepreneurs to pursue their dreams with the help of state and Union governments.
"We will be in regular touch with the government for any kind of assistance to make BIT-Sindri come at par with other top engineering cradles in the country. I have come here with a vision and a dream. I am quite hopeful of achieving what I want to achieve within two years with cooperation from teachers, students and staffers," he said.
Singh joined NIT-Patna in 2011 as the head of computer and IT department and became the head of the department of electronics and communication engineering in 2012.
Singh was selected for the director's post in October after an exhaustive vetting and selection process by Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) that began from June 27. JPSC recommended his name to the state government for the post, which was lying vacant since August 31, 2014. U.K. Dey, head of BIT's mining engineering department, was heading the institute since September 18, 2014, on an ad hoc basis.
