Jan. 19: Kabir Bedi took a wife for the fourth time. Immediate fallout: daughter Pooja Bedi took to Twitter.

A dad-versus-daughter tweet-for-tat broke out between actress Pooja and her father Kabir after the actor married his long-time partner Parveen Dusanj on his 70th birthday on January 16, a bitter exchange that a Mumbai socialite said was the latest "slice" of a family dispute.

"Every fairy tale has a wicked witch or an evil step~mother! Mine just arrived! @iKabirBedi just married @parveendusanj," Pooja tweeted after the wedding to which she wasn't invited.

Parveen, a London-bred publicist, has been living in with Kabir for over 10 years now. She is four years younger than the 45-year-old Pooja.

Pooja's late mother - '70s head-turner and model-turned-Odissi danseuse Protima Bedi - was Kabir's first wife.

Hours after her outburst, Pooja deleted her tweet with what sounded like an apology: "Deleted the last tweet on my dad @iKabirBedi 4th marriage. Lets keep things positive. I Wish him the best !!!"

But the damage had been done. An upset Kabir tweeted a smack-back for his estranged daughter: "DEEPLY DISAPPOINTED by venomous comments by my daughter Pooja against @parveendusanj just after we married. NO excuse for bad behaviour."

Pooja answered by posting a picture of her with half-brother Adam Bedi and his wife. Adam's mother, British designer Susan Humphreys, was Kabir's second wife.

Kabir, whose third wife was Britain-born TV and radio presenter Nikki Bedi, re-tweeted a congratulatory tweet from Adam. "Feeling happy and proud to have been a part of the beautiful wedding of my father @iKabirBedi & @parveendusanj ! Magical energies! God bless," Adam's tweet said.

The dispute, a source close to the family said, was over Beach House, a seafront Mumbai apartment Pooja had inherited from her mother Protima, who died in a landslide on her way to Kailash Mansarovar late in the '90s.

Pooja, on good terms with Kabir till 2013, had allowed him to stay in Beach House when the actor, who usually lived abroad, returned to India. "She not only let Kabir and Parveen stay there but also Parveen's sister Suki. Kabir began giving her rent," said a friend close to Pooja.

Pooja moved to a penthouse in Versova.

"But cross-talk and common friends soured the relationship between Pooja and Parveen. Beach House became a bone of contention. Scared that Parveen might take over the apartment, Pooja asked Kabir and Parveen to move out in 2013. Then she sold off the apartment," said a Mumbai socialite. "Kabir and Pooja have not been on talking terms since," the socialite added.
