The Odisha government on Friday decided to reconsider its decision on allowing the transfer of land of tribals to non-tribals following a public uproar.

The Opposition created a ruckus in the Assembly over the issue in the past two days. It did not allow the Speaker to run the House.

Even though the government maintained that the decision of transfer of land to the non-adivasis had been withheld, it did not satisfy the Opposition. They demanded a complete withdrawal of the decision.

Parliamentary affairs minister Niranjan Pujari informed the Assembly that the decision of the Odisha government to allow adivasis to transfer land to non-adivasis and mortgage their land would be reconsidered. "It will be sent to the Tribes Advisory Council for further examination and clarification. The TAC will take a call on the issue," he said.

However, the Opposition continued to demand a complete withdrawal of the decision. BJP MLAs met governor Raghubar Das and demanded his intervention.
