New Delhi, Jan. 22: Sons and daughters of prominent BJP leaders figured on the BJP's second list of candidates for the Uttar Pradesh polls released today, a fortnight after Narendra Modi urged party colleagues not to seek tickets for relatives.
Home minister Rajnath Singh's son Pankaj has been fielded from the Noida seat, adjoining Delhi, MP Hukum Singh's daughter Mriganka from Kairana in western Uttar Pradesh and MP Brajbhushan Sharan Singh's son Prateek from Gonda in the state's east.

Another notable name on list was that of Sidharth Nath Singh. Sidharth Nath is the national secretary who handles the party's Bengal affairs along with general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya. Sidharth Nath - the grandson of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shashtri - has been fielded from his native Allahabad East.
MP Sarvesh Kumar's son Sushant Singh will be the nominee from Barhapur in his father's Lok Sabha constituency Moradabad.
Addressing the BJP national executive earlier this month, Modi had urged leaders not to exert pressure for tickets for family members but leave it to the party to decide.
But a few big names were missing from today's list. One of them was that of Union minister Kalraj Mishra's son Amit. Party sources said Amit could be accommodated in the third list, which will cover constituencies in eastern Uttar Pradesh. Voting in this region is scheduled in the last phase in early March in the seven-stage polls.
Former chief minister and current Rajasthan governor Kalyan Singh's grandson Sandeep was among the nominees on the first list released last week. But Kalyan's hopes of getting a ticket for his second grandson, Sanju, might remain unfulfilled, party sources said. Kalyan's son Rajveer is already a BJP MP.
Some party leaders felt the ability to win was the main criteria in deciding tickets and the BJP leaders' relatives were found to be strong on that count. "Some leaders command considerable influence in their regions. The party cannot afford to ignore that if it wants to win the elections," a senior leader said.
Some turncoats made it to today's list too. Rita Bahuguna Joshi, who quit the Congress and joined the BJP in October, has been fielded from Luncknow Cantt. Brajesh Pathak, who defected from the BSP, was also given a ticket. Joshi and Pathak had even wanted tickets for their son and wife respectively but have been turned down, the sources said.
Pathak and another defector from the BSP, Swami Prasad Maurya, had sought tickets for some of their supporters. They were not obliged either.
The BJP had announced its first list of 149 candidates last week and with today's 155, it has declared 304 names so far. It remains to be seen how many leaders' relatives are included in the remaining 99 constituencies. The state has 403 seats.
