On August 20, 2016, nearly 150 villagers under the banner of Nagrik Chetna Manch, led by the then Ramgarh zilla parishad chairperson Mamta Devi, sat on a dharna for the closure of the IPL company located in Gola police station area of Ramgarh.

Suddenly the agitating villagers became violent during the dharna and the police had to resort to firing in self-defence which led to the death of two persons.
