Mumbai, Nov. 1 (PTI): Ali Raza, who wrote the script of Mother India, today passed away at Nanavati Hospital after a brief illness. Raza was in his early eighties.

He began his career with Andaaz in 1949. Raza also wrote the scripts of Saraswati Chandra (1968), Sawan Bhadon (1970), Raja Jani (1972) and Dus Numbri (1976).

He was married to actress Nimmi.
