A Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leader and four others, all managing committee members of a school in Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district, have been booked after students allegedly enacted the Babri mosque’s demolition at the institute’s annual sports day.

Puducherry lieutenant governor Kiran Bedi and Union minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda were among those who attended Sunday’s event.

Police have registered a case against RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat and the four others who run the Sri Rama Vidya Kendra in Kalladka, around 30km from Mangalore, under penal code sections 295(A) and 298 (hurting religious sentiments).

“We have not arrested anyone because investigations are going on,” B.M. Laxmi Prasad, SP, Dakshina Kannada district, told PTI, adding the complaint was based on a “half-minute video”.

The purported clip includes a commentary on the event. “With Hanuman-like energy, the Babri Masjid was demolished,” the commentator says.
