The country's top wrestlers, who were detained by Delhi Police and removed from their Jantar Mantar protest site, on Tuesday said they will immerse their hard-earned medals in river Ganges and sit on a hunger strike "until death" at the India Gate.
"We have won these medals with the same purity as the holy Ganga. These medals are holy for the entire country and there can't be a better place to keep them than in the holy Ganga rather than it acting as a mask for the unholy system which is siding with the wrongdoer," Sakshi Malik said.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, currently visiting Manipur, on Tuesday began consultations with stake-holders which started with a breakfast meeting with a group of women leaders, as part of his initiative to bring lasting peace in the violence-hit state.
The home minister also held a meeting with delegations of civil society organisations as part of his outreach.
Earlier in the day, the government announced it will give a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to those who died during the ethnic conflict in Manipur.
The decision was taken at a meeting between the Union Home Minister and chief minister N Biren Singh, on Monday late night.
CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Tuesday condemned the Centre’s ordinance on control of administrative services in Delhi and extended his party’s support to the AAP in opposing it in Parliament when a bill will be brought to replace it.
"We have condemned the ordinance brought by the Centre. It is unconstitutional. It is also contempt of court. We appeal to the biggest opposition party Congress to come forward to save our Constitution," Yechury told a joint press conference with Kejriwal after the meeting.
The Congress has projected unity to take on the BJP in the assembly polls in Rajasthan but "core issues" between Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his bete noire Sachin Pilot remain unresolved, according to sources close to Pilot.
Later on, Congress said the two leaders have agreed to the party's "proposal" and will fight the upcoming assembly elections unitedly, having left all issues to be resolved by the high command.
After a while, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressed the hope that he and his bete noire Sachin Pilot would work together and win the assembly polls in the state later this year, and called upon Congress workers and leaders to exercise "patience" and wait for their opportunity to serve in some capacity.
Scores of people took to the streets in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district, protesting the targeted killing of a man by Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists in Anantnag.
Led by Khayal Sunhal panchayat member Rajesh Kumar, the protesters assembled at Batal Chowk, blocking the Dhar Road and raised anti-Pakistan slogans.
"A wave of sorrow spread across Majalta when news of his killing spread in the area. Entire family was dependent on him. The terrorist came on a motorcycle and fired on him as he was a Hindu boy," Kumar told reporters.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has shared a video of his overnight "yatra" with truck drivers and the conversations he had with them while travelling on the Delhi-Chandigarh Highway.
"Interesting conversation with truck drivers in six-hour Delhi-Chandigarh journey! Spending 24 hours on the road, they unite every corner of India," he said in a tweet in Hindi while sharing a 35-second video of him during the journey.
Continuing his interaction with people just like during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, the Congress leader met and spoke with a group of truck drivers at a dhaba in Murthal on NH-44.
The Delhi High Court on Tuesday dismissed the bail plea of former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia in the excise policy scam being probed by the CBI, saying he is an influential man and the allegations against him are "very serious" in nature.
“In view of the discussion made, the allegations are very serious in nature that the excise policy was formed at the instance of the South group with malafide intention to give undue advantage to them. Such an act points towards the misconduct of the applicant who was admittedly a public servant and was holding a very high position,” the high court said.
In a tweet in Hindi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced, "The Delhi government will provide an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the family of the victim and will try its best to get the culprit punished severely by the court. Best lawyers will be fielded for this case." Kejriwal urged Saxena to take strict action over the incident. AAP leader Atishi will meet the victim's parents on Tuesday.
The accused, Sahil (20), was arrested from Bulandshahr after a call from his aunt to his father was traced to a location in Uttar Pradesh, police said.
"A phone by his aunt (bua) to his father informing him about Sahil's sudden arrival helped police to nab him from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh. His medical examination was conducted and by Monday night, he will reach Delhi, following which police will further interrogate him," a senior police officer said.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that the knife used by him in the horrific Shahbad Dairy murder was bought around 15 days ago and police are yet to recover it.
Ten Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims, most of them from Bihar, were killed and 57 others were injured on Tuesday as their double-decker bus fell into a gorge after skidding off the road and ramming into the railing of a bridge in Jammu district, officials said Tuesday.
The fifty-seven injured have been admitted to the GMC hospital in Jammu and two of them are critical. "Two persons were brought dead in the hospital while others have died on the spot," said Soodan, the principal.
President Droupadi Murmu offered her deepest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and also wished speedy recovery to the injured people.

"I'm very happy for him (Dhoni). Destiny had this written for him," Pandya said after the heartbreaking loss.
Dhoni himself has not yet ruled out playing in the IPL next year but said for that to happen, his body will have to hold up.
