Three people were arrested in connection with the attack on a parliamentary delegation of the Left and the Congress in Tripura's Sepahijala district, police said on Saturday.

The delegation, comprising Left and Congress MPs, was attacked in Nehalchandranagar, a border village of Bishalgarh subdivision, on Friday when it was visiting areas affected by post-poll violence.

BRS leader K Kavitha deposed before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) here on Saturday, with the agency confronting her with an arrested accused in connection with its money-laundering probe into alleged irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi excise policy.

The 44-year-old daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao arrived at the federal agency's headquarters on APJ Abdul Kalam Road from her father's official residence on Tughlak Road, located about 1.5 kilometres away, around 11 am.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav is unlikely to appear before the CBI for questioning on Saturday in the alleged land-for-jobs scam and has sought a fresh date citing personal reasons, officials said.

The federal agency summoned RJD leader Yadav for questioning on Saturday after he had skipped the previous date on March 4, they said. He has again sought a fresh date citing personal reasons, they said.

California banking regulators closed the bank, which did business as Silicon Valley Bank, on Friday and appointed the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) as receiver for later disposition of its assets.

Amid a rise in cases of the seasonal influenza subtype H3N2, the Centre on Saturday expressed concern over a gradual increase in the Covid-19 positivity rate in some states and said it needed to be promptly addressed.

The Centre requested all states and Union territories to follow operational guidelines for integrated surveillance of respiratory pathogens presenting as cases of influenza-like illness (ILI) or severe acute respiratory infection (SARI).

Three persons, including a juvenile, were apprehended after a video surfaced on social media showing a group of men allegedly harassing and groping a Japanese woman on Holi, police said on Saturday.

The video showed a group of men smearing colour on a foreigner, who seemed uncomfortable. It also showed one of the men smashing an egg on her head. She can be heard saying "bye bye" in the video.

A day-long strike called by a traders' body against the imposition of property tax evoked a mixed response here on Saturday with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha saying people are wise and understand the situation very well.

Sinha, however, said his doors are open for dialogue on the issue and the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir have been given priority while framing the rules.

The Election Commission on Saturday said it has introduced the facility to Vote-from-Home (VFH) for people above 80 years of age and those with disabilities in the upcoming assembly elections in Karnataka.

For the first time the ECI is going to provide the facility to those above 80 years of age. Our teams will go there with a form-12D to exercise their franchise, the Chief Election Commissioner, Rajiv Kumar told reporters here.

In a landmark initiative, the Indian Railways has set up a tea stall at Guwahati station which will be fully operated and managed by members of the transgender community.

The idea to open the 'Trans tea stall' was generated and implemented by the North East Frontier Railway (NEFR) to empower the community, its spokesperson Sabyasachi De said.

A two-day flower festival, which will see the participation of several G20 nations, was inaugurated at Central Park, Connaught Place, in the national capital on Saturday. The flower festival was inaugurated by Union Minister of Labour and Employment Bhupender Yadav.

The objective of the festival is to showcase the vibrancy and colourful display of G20 members and guest countries, the New Delhi Municipal Corporation said in a statement.
