The government has convened a special session of Parliament for five days between September 18 and 22, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said. There is speculation the special session is being called to begin the process of shifting from the old to the new Parliament building. The timing of the special session announcement coincides with the mega Opposition bloc INDIA's third meeting in Mumbai.

The Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project trained gun at billionaire Gautam Adani's group, alleging hundreds of millions of dollars were invested in publicly traded group stocks through Mauritius-based 'opaque' investment funds managed by partners of promoter family, charges the conglomerate denied vehemently. Citing review of files from multiple tax havens and internal Adani Group emails, OCCRP said its investigation found at least two cases where the "mysterious" investors bought and sold Adani stock through such offshore structures.

Elections in Jammu and Kashmir can take place any time and a decision on the issue has to be taken by the poll panel, the Centre told the Supreme Court while giving a roadmap for restoration of electoral democracy and complete statehood in the union territory. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told a bench that polls in J-K will be held in three stages - first there will be panchayat polls, second municipal polls and then legislative assembly polls.

A decision on who will be convenor of the opposition bloc INDIA will be taken after deliberations during its meetings on August 31 and September 1 in Mumbai, senior Maharashtra Congress leader Ashok Chavan said. Along with talks on strategy and inclusion of new allies, unveiling of the INDIA bloc logo and discussion on the common minimum programme (CMP) will be the highlight of the two-day deliberations.

Two persons succumbed to splinter injuries in Manipur over the past 12 hours even as heavy gunbattle between two groups was reported from Khoirentak foothills in Bishnupur district and Chingphei and Khousabung areas in Churachandpur district. On Tuesday, two men were killed and six injured in separate incidents of violence near Narainsena village in Bishnupur.

Another instrument onboard the Chandrayaan-3 mission's rover 'Pragyan' has confirmed the presence of sulphur in the lunar region by deploying a different technique, ISRO said. ISRO also released a video of the rover rotating in search of a safe route. The rotation was captured by a lander imager camera.

At least 73 people were killed and 52 others injured after a massive fire broke out in a multi-storey building occupied by migrants in the central business district here in South Africa's biggest city, emergency services said. Dozens of emergency and rescue workers are still on the scene as bodies continue to be brought out.

The Delhi Police has arrested one person and detained one more in connection with writing pro-Khalistan messages on the walls of four Delhi Metro stations ahead of the G20 Summit. Pro-Khalistan messages- "Delhi Banega Khalistan" and "Khalistan Zindabad" were found on the walls of Shivaji Park, Madipur, Paschim Vihar, Udyog Nagar, and Maharaja Surajmal Stadium metro stadiums on August 27.

President Droupadi Murmu expressed concern over the 'very serious issue' of students committing suicide, and urged all stakeholders to help them beat negative thinking and cope with study pressure in a positive way. The president was speaking at the state-level launch of 'Sakaratmak Parivartan Ka Varsh' (Year of Positive Change) of Brahma Kumaris at Shanti Sarovar Retreat Centre in Chhattisgarh capital Raipur.
