In the season of book fairs and literary meets, Rani Birla Girls’ College organised its own celebration of books and reading. Titled Knowledge ’14-’15, this was a two-day book exhibition-cum-sale, organised by the college library in association with The Telegraph-YOU. The fair is a biennial event held on the college grounds since 2006. The mini book fair was inaugurated by principal Sunetra Sinha. Ten publishers and distributors — Alpana Enterprise, Dasgupta & Co, Orient Blackswan, Progressive Book Centre, Punthi Pustak, Pustak Niketan, Rajkamal Prakashan, S.B. Enterprise, Touriosity Travel Mag and Towards Freedom — put up stalls, displaying a variety of books.
The fair was open to all and for two days, the campus buzzed with the excited chatter of bookworms from Rani Birla and other colleges, all busy visiting the stalls, browsing the titles and buying books. The teachers of Rani Birla also visited the fair.
