She takes pride in being “bold” in the characters that she portrays. Bollywood actress Neetu Chandra, who got noticed in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Traffic Signal, was in town for an event recently. In conversation with t2...

You were once quoted saying ‘I’m ready to go nude for a James Cameron movie’. Would you?

I was wrongly quoted and to put the record straight, I would never go nude for anybody or anything in the world. My pride and dignity is far more precious.

Talking of controversies, there was a lot of noise when you posed intimately with another woman for a men’s magazine. Did you feel embarrassed?

That ‘controversial’ picture was actually an adaptation of paintings in the Ajanta Ellora caves. People should actually thank me for reminding them about its existence through all the publicity that took place post the shoot (laughs). If you see the photo I am not even touching the girl, it’s just my expression that stirred reactions. Well, if nothing, it’s good to know my expressions are so convincing.

Do you think Indian women should be free to express their sexual preference?

I am a straight person who is not here to promote or oppose lesbianism.

Do you like being stereotyped as the ‘glam babe’?

Honestly, I don’t think people think of me like that because in each of my films (Garam Masala, Traffic Signal, 13B: Fear has a new address) I have changed images. Off-screen, I am better known as a sportsperson (Neetu Chandra is a Taekwondo expert).

What’s the most bizarre rumour you have heard about yourself?

I heard that I am getting married, like five months ago. It was so strange!

Who is your dream date?

An angry Aamir Khan in Ghajini is my dream date; I think he is very sweet in all that temper.
