Ekru opened the doors of its 40/1 Roopchand Mukherjee Road store (adjacent to Bhowanipore police station) on Thursday. While the launch was an excuse to mingle with family and friends over platters of finger-food and coffee, Ekta Jaipuria and Ruchira Kandhari — the designers behind the Ekru label — also launched their new ‘diffusion’ line along with Indian ethnic and bridal designs. Models displayed Ekru creations by weaving their way in and around the rooms over the three floors. The designer duo will have ready-to-wear clothes as well as garments made to order. “We’re really happy that so many guests came today and people really like the store and the designs,” smiled Ruchira.
