The cast and crew of first-time director Suman Moitra’s Doshhomi threw a surprise birthday bash for leading lady Koel Mallick, four days in advance. After a day-long shoot in the sun, Koel was led to Casa Broadway on Broad Street where the team waited with a chocolate cake. “I didn’t know they were planning a surprise party! It was so sweet of them... and I love chocolate cake!” chirped Koel, who cut the cake with a fancy sword, with help from co-star Indraneil Sengupta . “We wrapped up the last schedule of Doshhomi on Monday and since I am leaving for Bombay for a song sequence of Janemon, I won’t be meeting them for a while. So they planned the party I guess,” smiled Koel, who will celebrate her birthday on April 28 “with family and friends”. Pictures by Pabitra Das
