Red Bull Doodle Art, a worldwide doodle competition, is back for its third edition. University students aged 18 years and above can participate. Submit your doodle online at www.redbulldoodleart.com by April 20. Students from over 1,000 campuses across more than 40 countries are expected to participate. Download the template from the website, doodle on it and upload a scanned copy. You can doodle on the template online too.
That’s not all. Even if you can’t draw a crooked line to save your life but love this art form, there’s something for you. Doodle enthusiasts can view the entries online and vote for their favourites. Winners will be announced for each country after an online vote held from April 22 to 28. Participants will be judged on style and creativity. Winning doodlers from each country will compete in a global finale and their doodles will be on display in the Global Virtual Gallery. They will be coached on 3D artistic skills before they create their final piece in 3D.
Santanu Hazarika, the winner of the 2014 edition, was a final-year engineering student of the Royal School of Engineering & Technology, Guwahati, when he participated.
“I used to doodle behind my exercise books in class. Art was always a part of me but I had never thought of taking it up as a profession till I won Red Bull Doodle Art 2014. I was reading 7 Secrets of Vishnu by Devdutt Pattanaik when I came across this contest online. The doodle (inset) that helped me win the trophy was inspired by that book. I was on cloud nine when I represented India at the finals, which were held in Cape Town, South Africa. I feel originality is what helped me win,” said the freelance illustrator now based in Delhi.
