One of the first to open in the food court at Quest is bakery and cafe chain Au Bon Pain.
After its successful run in Bangalore, the cafe (meaning ‘the place of good bread’) headquartered in Boston brings to Calcutta a whole range of bagels, sandwiches, soups and bakes. “It’s all about healthy options with speed of service for those who are time-impoverished but want quality food,” said Sanjay Gupta, CEO, Au Bon Pain Cafe (India).

“i like the healthy options on the menu. the soups can be had here or taken home and the bagels and sandwiches are famous in bangalore,” said sanjiv goenka, at the soft launch of au bon pain on friday |
The most talked-about item on the menu is the Toasted Bagel and Cream Cheese. Pick your choice of bagel — onion and garlic, farmhouse roll, everything bagel — slap on some herbed cream cheese and wash it down with a Cappuccino. There are some things which have been introduced only in Calcutta for the market here. “Like the Smoked Salmon Wasabi sandwich, the Salmon with Cream Cheese and for the first time, a signature range of in-house spreads,” added Gupta.
Another house speciality is the Bread Bowl, a bowl made of bread, which you can fill with soup! “In India, we look at soup as 1x2 appetiser. We want to convert it into a meal,” explained Gupta.
The cafe shares the common food court seating on the fourth floor of Quest, so the menu is compact. For the whole deal, wait till Au Bon Pain opens on Park Street, where Music World used to be!
