(From top) Debasree Roy and Moon Moon Sen took part in a dog walk for Karuna, “a project dedicated towards uncared animals of the city”, on Saturday afternoon. The hour-long walk, organised by Debasree Roy Foundation and supported by Prabha Khaitan Foundation, started from the North Gate of Victoria Memorial and ended at Mohar Kunja (Citizens’ Park). Actress Sohini Paul, danseuse Indrani Dutta, percussionist Tanmoy Bose, designer Agnimitra Paul, director Anindita Sarbadhicari, singers Jojo and Bappi Lahiri were part of the starry crowd. City-based models Neeraj, Jessica, Pamela and Tina also participated. The first step for Karuna is to provide vaccinations for 100 street dogs by the end of March. Police commissioner Gautam Mohan Chakrabarti discussed with Debasree and Prabha Khaitan Foundation’s Sundeep Bhutoria the idea of starting a helpline to report cruelty towards animals.
