TREE OF JOY: Children from Future Hope, a charitable organisation, were joined by ATK players Robin Singh, Anwar Ali, Tom Thorpe, Ashutosh Mehta, Conor Thomas, Jayesh Rane and Debjit Majumder for a Christmas tree-lighting ceremony at Novotel Kolkata and Residences on December 15. Olivier Cassin, deputy consul of France, and former tennis champ Vijay Amritraj also dropped by. “We wanted to spread smiles among the children, so we made the Christmas tree with toys, which we would gift to the kids of Future Hope. Also, it cheered up some of the ATK players who were missing home this festive season,” said Novotel GM Sandeep Johri.

FOREVER YOUNG: Senior citizens from five old age homes such as Lawrence D’Souza Old Age Home and St. Vincent Home came together at Calcutta Rangers Club on December 20 for an afternoon of fun, food and festivity. The guests enjoyed a game of Housie and jived, foxtrotted and waltzed to the merry numbers sung by Christopher Lobo before settling down for an elaborate lunch. “Seeing them happily jiving and singing is wonderful,” said club president M.S. Calvert.

CAKE CHEER: Cafe ICanFlyy, which employs specially-abled people, welcomed the festive season with a cake mixing ceremony on December 13, where cafe co-founders Minu and Preeyam Budhia joined in
The 34-seater cafe has laid out a Christmas menu that includes goodies like plum cakes, marshmallow pops and edible wreaths among others. For those with a savoury palate, seasonal soups are also available. “The cake mixing ceremony with the ICanFlyy team was not only a lot of fun but also a hallmark of how far we’ve come in such a short time.
