The Barnyard came alive at Bengal Rowing Club

The Bengal Rowing Club grounds were converted into a play area for kids of all ages — babies swaddled in Christmas-y woollens, toddlers making DIY ice cream stick Christmas trees and teenagers making the most of the discotheque, Mirage — at BRC’s Barnyard, in association with Telekids. Staying true to its eco-friendly theme, games such as Cock-a-Doodle-Do, Ring the Milk and Rabbit Golf educated the kids about farm animals in a fun way. In line with the theme, the food stalls were called Farm Fresh and Farm Market.

The mood: The Bengal Rowing Club grounds were converted into a play area for kids of all ages — babies swaddled in Christmas-y woollens, toddlers making DIY ice cream stick Christmas trees and teenagers making the most of the discotheque, Mirage — at BRC’s Barnyard, in association with Telekids. Staying true to its eco-friendly theme, games such as Cock-a-Doodle-Do, Ring the Milk and Rabbit Golf educated the kids about farm animals in a fun way. In line with the theme, the food stalls were called Farm Fresh and Farm Market.

Sip & bite: Pasta and nachos at live counters were hot-sellers, as were phuchkas, chaats and pizzas from the BRC pizzeria. The club’s speciality drink — freshly squeezed sugarcane juice with a dash of lemon — was much in demand, along with Keventers milkshakes.

Club speak: “We have put in a lot of effort to achieve the Green Building certification from the Indian Green Building Council, even installing solar panels to generate our own power. This is why this year’s theme is extra special for us. We are encouraging club members to adopt an eco-friendly lifestyle,” said Surendra Bagri, chairman, entertainment committee, The Bengal Rowing Club.

Mishkaa Choudhary fed herself some cotton candy.

We loved how cool mom Shivani Agarwalla shook a leg with her two-and-a-half-year-old son Lavik on her shoulders. “Being a working mother, I cherish the time that I get to spend with Lavik. Being with him brings out the child in me,” said the tax consultant.
CaThe other mother who impressed was Palak Singhee, who got up on stage to lead the kids in an impromptu jig to Kala chashma. “I want my four-year-old daughter, Jiva, to see me as the woman I want her to be, so I decided to overcome my fear and join in,” said the electrical engineer-turned-dancer.ption
