What: The Trousseau Closet
Where: The Oberoi Grand
When: July 13; 11am-8pm
The terrace of Room 606 at Hyatt Regency Kolkata was abuzz with giggles and happy chatter. Well, that’s what happens when a bunch of fun-loving and free-spirited girls get together. A t2 preview shoot for The Trousseau Closet, a trunk show by Shaadilogy.com, got make-up artist Rachael Jones, chef Sneha Singhi, yoga pro Mrinalika BhanjDeo and jewellery designer Vasundhara Mantri to slip into some cool day looks.
Shaadilogy.com, a website targeted at the wedding market, is a brainchild of Vasundhara and Aayshya Jhunjhunwala, a psychologist who loves designing jewellery.
Post-shoot, we sat the girls down for a style chat!
Rachael Jones
Wearing: A Vidhi Wadhwani neoprene dress + Vasundhara Mantri jewellery.
I would wear this to: A brunch.
Fashionable for me is: Out of the box and subtle at the same time. I love my hoops, chunky earrings… something very casual and eye-catching. I keep changing my hair colour to these blues and crazy tones. When I do that, I am subtle with what I am wearing.
Classic for me is: My winged eyeliner and red lips. That pop of colour works for me.
An Insta crush: Goar Avetisyan, a Russian make-up artist. I am dying to go for one of her masterclasses.
Celeb wardrobe I am eyeing: Hailey Baldwin.
A fashion love of the moment: Bell-bottoms.
Sneha Singhi
Wearing: A Ridhi Mehra gown which can also be worn as an Anarkali + Gracee & Splendeur jewellery.
I would wear this to: A friend’s wedding for a day function.
Fashionable for me is: Something comfortable that I can wear in the evening and through the night. I really like my comfy tees, tank tops, crop tops and jeans.
Classic for me is: Long dresses and black.
An Insta crush: Nina Tarasova. She is a badass Russian pastry chef who does whatever she wants to do. She is so good-looking and everything she wears suits her.
Celeb wardrobe I am eyeing: Alia Bhatt. So simple yet so beautiful.
A fashion love of the moment: Slit pants. They’re cool, airy and comfortable.
Mrinalika Bhanjdeo
Wearing: An Anju Modi dhoti skirt and crop top + Gracee & Splendeur jewellery.
I would wear this to: It’s got a sari-cum-dhoti-cum-skirt effect. The versatility of the outfit makes it a great fashion choice.
Fashionable for me is: Out-there jewellery. My go-to are statement earrings. I also like funky bags, like I have this one clutch which looks like a speaker.
Classic for me is: Chiffon saris.
An Insta crush: Yoga pro and entrepreneur Deepika Mehta. I really like her outfits and the way she presents herself. She wears a lot of dhotis, crop tops, old saris which she ties around her waist to demonstrate poses.
Celeb wardrobe I am eyeing: Queen of Jordan (Queen Rania), Olivia Palermo, Gigi Hadid, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Blake Lively and Sonam Kapoor.
A fashion love of the moment: Athleisure which combines two of my favourite things — comfort and understated luxury. High-fashion sneakers and slouchy silhouettes.
Vasundhara Mantri
Wearing: A Rimzim Dadu embroidered organza jumper + Vasundhara Mantri jewellery.
I would wear this to: A brunch probably or a sundowner.
Fashionable for me is: Anything understated with which I can pair my jewellery and look funky. I usually wear solid colours so that I can team it up with a chunky neckpiece.
Classic for me is: An old jadau elaborate neckpiece which I would team up with black or white.
An Insta crush: I follow a lot of these art jewellers from all over the world.
Celeb wardrobe I am eyeing: Amal Clooney.
A fashion love of the moment: Colour in jewellery and lots of metallic hues.
This is the pret edit. Our aim was to get things that are within a certain budget. Everybody is conscious of what they are spending on. So it is mostly pret with a smattering of occasion wear. We didn’t want to restrict it to only brides or people necessarily shopping for weddings
