Filmmaker Alankrita Srivastava Believes In Making A Unique Style Statement Published 13.02.11, 12:00 AM

Style according to you is…

Unique. There’s no formula for style and you should wear whatever you are comfortable in.

Five items in your closet you can’t do without

A basic beige skirt, a knee-length denim skirt, a printed floral scarf, a black turtleneck top and a black dress.

What do you like to mix-and-match?

I like to mix colours. For instance I could wear a skirt, shirt and scarf — all in different colours.

You have a fetish for

Scarves and hair clips

Latest buys

A red bag from FCUK which I really love but have yet to use

The trend you are sporting at the moment

Anti-fit tops teamed with wide pants

If there was a fire, what would you save?

I am a practicing Buddhist and would save my prayer scroll.

Essentials in your handbag

My purse is loaded with everything that I need. I always carry my wallet, phone charger, a book, pen-drive, pins and lip gloss.

Clothes, they say, maketh a man. True or false?

I think this is overrated but having said that, the fact is that the first impression that we get of a person is from the way a person presents himself/herself.

Which character out of history would you like to dress as?

A cross between Coco Chanel and Lady Diana because I love their sense of style

You have a nose for?

Anais Anais for women by Cacharel and Davidoff Cool Water for women. I don’t step out of the house without a perfume.

Whose closet do you envy and why?

I love the wardrobe of Poornamrita Singh, my film’s costume designer. She has a great sense of style.

Biggest fashion faux pas…

Wearing an outfit that’s too tight and shows your bulges — something I’ve been guilty of in the past

A fashion/beauty tip...

Create your own sense of style rather than trying to ape someone else.

(As told to Saimi Sattar)
