My weekends go according to my mood. Sometimes, I just feel like staying indoors, lounging and lazing around all day long. Then again, there are times when I have very productive weekends when I try and pack in all my interests ? singing, painting and yes, even watching a whole lot of television.
I love to sing and have been learning Rabindrasangeet for some time now. My guruji comes on Wednesday, but I do my riyaaz daily and over the weekend, I try to practice a lot more. Besides Rabindrasangeet, I also love singing adhunik Bangla gaan. It’s strange that I’ve always dreamt of being a singer, and yet today, I am a model. Nevertheless I still haven’t let go of my dream and hopefully one day I’ll make it come true.
Singing aside, my weekends are also taken up by another love of mine ? painting. I do oils mainly and prefer portraits. After running through most of my family members, I turned to the stars and have done paintings of Aishwarya Rai and Yana Gupta, who I really admire. Currently I am working on a painting of the female form.
I get up slightly later than usual on both Saturday and Sunday. In fact, on Sundays, my dad usually wakes me up thanks to him blaring music on the stereo. Lunch is courtesy my mother, and sometimes when I feel like playing kitchen queen, I whip up a cake or pudding, kasha mangsho or even something as simple as jhaal-muri.
Weekend evenings are spent in the company of family or friends. If I’m at home, I stay put in front of the TV, but if with friends, we enjoy hanging out in the New Market-Esplanade area or at Inox.
