Being a musician, I can claim to have a weeklong weekend. But my daughter, Aanya’s school schedule keeps me firmly in check. So a regular Friday evening is when I get to let my hair down. Reading, catching up with friends and family, occasionally bravely foraying into helping Aanya with her homework — all this then takes over my Saturdays and Sundays.
Friday evenings are reserved for rehearsals. Our band, Plan B has a late-night gig at Someplace Else every Friday, so by the time, we wrap up, it’s pretty late.
If both my sisters are in town, we do an all-out girls’ thing on Saturday. We eat out, go shopping or just sit and talk for hours. I also catch up with friends and our haunt again, is Someplace Else. It feels nice to go, get a drink and listen to some music, away from the stage for a change.
Sunday mornings are slow ‘’ easy. Though I used to be a disaster in the kitchen, of late I’ve developed quite a passion for cooking. I try my best to round up friends and family to come over and try my latest creations. The wise politely decline, the not-so-wise find out at their own peril. But it’s great fun!
Monday being the beginning of the week, we hardly ever do anything on Sunday evenings. I read quite a bit — Paulo Coelho or Robin Cook, I don’t discriminate. But it’s a different story when it comes to music. Now that I’m in the biz, more often than not, I find myself listening to music with a mission. However, being such a big part of my life, it goes without saying that music takes up a good part of my weekend too!
