The kind of profession I am in leaves me with very little time for myself. On Fridays and Saturdays, I am either busy recording or doing shows. So whenever I can, I try to spend time with my family. Nowadays I am doing a lot of work and recording keeps me busy throughout the day. But since I have my own recording studio at home, I can afford to take breaks in the middle. At present my hands are full with films like Classic Dance of Love starring Mithun Chakraborty, Main Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara produced by Anupam Kher, Mr Prime Minister directed by Dev Anand and Anjan Chowdhury?s Ekai Eksho. So you can well imagine that I hardly get time to relax even for a bit.

On days when I don?t have any recordings, I like to escape with my entire family to my farmhouse called Lahiri Gardens at Matheran. My father had built this farmhouse in 1987 and going there brings back a lot of fond memories. Built on 20 acres of land, this farmhouse is surrounded by hills on all sides and because Matheran is a hill-station, the scenery is beautiful. My farmhouse has the works ? landscaped gardens, swimming pool and jacuzzi and is an ideal place to chill out. Another favourite place is Sahara Amby Valley where we love to go because of the added attraction of water-sports.

On other days, if I am at home, I like to watch movies on Star Movies and HBO, especially the romantic and horror variety. I also listen to a lot of symphonies and World music and have a huge collection. Being a hardcore Bengali, food is my other obsession and on Sundays, I make special requests to my wife to cook typical Bengali cuisines like Chingri Macher Malaikari or Ilish Bhape. We also love to dine at Chinese restaurants like Mainland China and Tian in Mumbai. Since I am also a great cricket fan, these days I am hooked to the India versus Pakistan cricket matches on television.
