The one rule that governs my weekends is that Sundays are sacrosanct. No matter how busy I am at the time, I always try to keep my Sundays free and they are devoted completely to my family.

Having said that, in a creative job you are never really off duty. Anything ? from a scrap of news in the newspaper or a cinema hoarding ? can give birth to an idea, so in that sense, I never stop working. But yes, I don’t step into the office or the workshop if I can help it. The day is given over to my two sons. We play together, sometimes outdoor sports in the park and sometimes indoor ones, including video games on the Playstation. Like most youngsters today, they are totally into the latest gizmos and we figure out the latest games together. I also check up on their schoolwork at times, which is something I don’t get to do much of during the week. Mostly my wife takes care of that, but on weekends, I sometimes help them with maths and science. Interacting with children is a great way to stay in touch with things, and being with my kids and their friends always charges me up.

Besides that, it’s doing the usual things like lazing around the house or going shopping for household necessities. We do a Sunday brunch at times or go out for a movie. If there’s a children’s film playing, we make it a point to take the kids to see it. They love animated stuff, and even I’ve grown to like it quite a bit. We don’t make too many weekend trips, as it is a bit complicated to organise them keeping in mind that the kids have to be in school on Monday morning, though we make it a point to have at least two holidays a year.
