It’s a glow that’s sure to give a headstart to Diwali this year. The festivities are flickering to life with the much-in- demand tea light and candle holders that are pushing the envelope in terms of designs and styles. Perhaps it’s time to give gleaming silver a break this season and check out candle holders in materials like wood, steel, marble and even crystal.

 

1 Product designer Mukul Goyal’s Eden, a chrome candle stand that holds five candles, is priced at Rs 10,850 (the gold-plated version costs Rs 9,410).

 

2 His Rustic tea light holder is a quirky, chrome-plated brass piece priced at Rs 1,800 (also available in gold-plating).

 

3   This Ganesha lithophane from Lladro gives a new spin to candle holders. A lithophane is an etched or moulded artwork on thin, translucent porcelain that’s clearly visible only when lit. Priced at Rs 5,500, this one looks like a plain egg-shaped artefact but light a candle inside and the glowing image of Ganesha flickers to life.

 

4      Designed in steel and glass, Maggpie’s Eminence tea light holder, priced at Rs 4,500, is silver-plated and coated with lacquer to make it anti-tarnish.

 

5      In stainless steel and wood, this handy Damask table tea light holder from arttd’inox is a compact set of six tea lights priced at Rs 1,890.

 

6      For those who swear by style, Swarovski’s Crystalline candle holders are perfect picks. A sparkling creation in clear crystal, Swarovski crystals and steel, this comes tagged at Rs 26,000.

 

7       Go traditional with clay and marble candle holders from The Box at The Park, Calcutta. The hotsellers are Jaipuri marble pieces studded with multi-coloured stones and priced between Rs 625 and Rs 995 and terracotta red and white Khajuraho-inspired clay candle holders for Rs 1,500 each.

 

8 Check out Urbano’s Golden Gate bridge-shaped tea light holder in metal and glass for Rs 1,900 or

 

9 its standing, bamboo-and-glass Garden Candle Stand at Rs 3,200.
