Sawansukha Institute of Gemology & Jewellery Design hosted Facets in association with t2, on March 29 at Kala Mandir. The graduating show of the institute had 33 students showcase their collections, out of which the top 10 — selected by judges Agnimitra Paul and Esha Dutta, among others — were awarded. Jessica Gomes Surana was the emcee for the event.

Designer Agnimitra Paul, one of the judges at the event, was impressed with what she saw. “I had a very nice experience at the event, especially because of how creative the students were. They had some unique designs that impressed me a great deal. So much so that I wanted to purchase a few,” Agnimitra said.

Niki Sawansukha, principal of the institute, also curated a collection based on the theme “Go Green” that featured jewellery made of newspaper.
“The team has been working really hard for almost three months now and I am exceptionally proud of my students.” — Niki Sawansukha, principal, Sawansukha Institute of Gemology & Jewellery Design
“My theme was ‘Be the jack of all trades, but master of one’. We see how youngsters believe in trying out many different things at the same time and that takes up a lot of time and energy, but the best in every profession are the ones who focus on one thing,” said Namrata Kulthia, one of the 10 winners.
“As we move forward in our lives, the environment is getting destroyed with every passing day. My collection represents how we should save nature. Made of gold and beads, my designs represent flowers that need nurturing and saving,” said Bandana Shukla, one of the winners.
