You’ve seen bricks being used to build houses. Now how about we tell you you can use them to build your body?! Surprised? Well, you’re not alone. For every beginner of Iyengar Yoga, this is an interesting learning. As part of yoga guru B.K.S. Iyengar’s birth centenary celebrations, a series of classes on Iyengar Yoga were conducted at Purwanchal Vidya Mandir in Kankurgachhi over a period of four days that saw many Calcuttans drop by to satiate the yoga enthusiast in them and have a rejuventating experience.
“There is no permanent centre for Iyengar Yoga in Calcutta but the diligence of the people who came in for the workshop was brilliant. We aimed at creating awareness about its benefits by explaining to people that yoga is more than gaining physical fitness. It is also about gaining inner peace and stability and learning to maintain it while enjoying the process,” said Abhay Javakhedkar, the yoga instructor for the session.
