The console was traded for the mike and belly laughs replaced swanky moves at a packed Phoenix, The Astor, as Black Dog Easy Evenings featuring Biswa Kalyan Rath got underway on September 8. The comedian was greeted with loud cheers when he started his set and louder cheers when he decided to extend his set by 15 minutes, picking on everyone and everything for his hour-long laughathon.
The crowd went into a tizzy as Biswa took the stage. Using his trademark humour, the stand-up comic left no topic untouched — pavements to phones, mathematics to magic — to bring the house down. “This audience has been great, and I love coming back to Calcutta. One thing that comes to mind is that a few years ago, when I was doing a show in one of the colleges here, a faculty member came after the show to reprimand me for just using cuss words with female family members and not with the male ones! This has stayed with me,” said Biswa.
