11 signs of a toxic buddy

The one who never appreciates your success

The one who never appreciates your success

Some amount of jealousy in friendship is normal, but there are some green-eyed monsters who will try to sabotage your success by talking nasty things behind your back.

The one who always criticises you

Constructive criticism is one thing and being hypercritical is another. This friend is quick to point out your flaws instead of offering you their support. Their relentless critique and negative put-down will deter you from asking for their opinion.

The one whose company drains you

Hanging out with friends is always fun, but if spending the weekend with one takes a toll on your emotional well-being, then you should seriously reconsider your friendship.

The one who prefers social media over you

For this friend, Snapchat is way more important than an actual chat when you’re out with them. If tagging you on a party post is the only interaction they have with you over the week, then alarm bells should ring.

The untrustworthy friend

Friends should be the ones who protect your secrets at any cost, right? But if you have a buddy who often discloses your secrets and spreads rumours about you, then the best thing would be to let them go.

The parasitic friend

They will only be there when you are giving them a treat or going for a party, not when you need them. What’s the point in staying friends?

The one with whom keeping in touch is a problem

We all are busy and it’s true that people cannot always call or be in touch. But if you’re the only one calling or texting then, it’s time you looked elsewhere to make friends.

The one who takes offence if you don’t respond ASAP

As friends, we depend on each other but should a friend be so clingy and fight all the time because you took too long to reply to their message or missed a call?

The one who’s a poor listener

This friend will call you only when they need a shoulder to cry on but will never have time to listen to any of your problems. They end up making you feel lonelier than you are.

The pessimistic friend

They tend to focus on all the bad things that have happened to them, completely ignoring anything good or positive that has come their way. This attitude not only affects them but also anyone in their vicinity.

The egocentric friend

They are so full of themselves that they can only talk about their own accomplishments.
