New Delhi, Jan. 4: Samtel Colour, the largest colour picture tube providers in India, hopes to double its turnover in the next three years from the current level of Rs 1,200 crore.
The company also plans to raise its production of colour picture tubes from 5-7 million in the next two years.
“The demand for colour televisions is growing by the day. Right now, our main focus is to enhance productivity from our existing facility in Ghaziabad which has three production lines. To produce at least 7 million colour picture tubes, the company will require to make an approximate investment of Rs 20 crore,” Samtel Color chief Satish K. Kaura said.
At present, the size of the colour picture tube industry is 8.5 million units a year. Industry insiders say the colour television industry is growing at a rate of 15-20 per cent each year.
Kaura said Samtel exports nearly 20 per cent of its total production to markets like Europe, Africa and Asia.
The company has also recently commissioned a new capacity of 2.2 million 15-inch colour display tubes and 29-inch super flat television tubes a year. At 40 per cent, Samtel Colour has the highest market share among colour picture tube manufacturers in the country.
Its Indian client list includes well-known television makers like LG, Samsung, Onida, Panasonic, Philips, Videocon and Thomson. International brands that import colour picture tubes from Samtel include Sharp, Sanyo, Technimagen, Mivar and Fomenti and Funai.
The company has also received safety approvals for its range of products from countries like the US, Canada, Germany and Britain.
