Calcutta, April 2: Logistics company DTDC Express Ltd is eyeing an over 15 per cent rise in its turnover at around Rs 925 crore for the fiscal ended March 2016. The company's turnover stood at about Rs 800 crore in the preceding fiscal.

"We are targeting a Rs 1,100-crore turnover for 2016-17," Abhishek Chakraborty, executive director of DTDC Express Ltd, told The Telegraph. The company has signed up Sourav Ganguly, former captain of the Indian cricket team, as its brand ambassador.

He said while the eastern zone contributes about 18 per cent of the company's total turnover, the northern zone is the largest contributor with about 27 per cent share.

"The Northeast is a very important zone for us and we are trying to grow and improve the service there despite a difficult terrain," he said.

It has picked up a minority stake in a Delhi-based start-up Llama Logisol. The start-up owns and operates on-demand logistics service provider "Shipsy" that offers free pickup and packaging of parcels and ships them to the customers' destination of choice.

"DTDC will be investing $80-100 million over the next 12 to 18 months to strengthen its e-commerce and e-fulfilment businesses as the key levers for future growth," he said.
