Islamabad, Sept. 26: President Asif Ali Zardari has taken serious note of reports that Hindu Dalits were being denied humanitarian assistance and entry into relief camps in the flood-hit Sindh province for being “untouchables”.
“The President has directed the provincial government to hold an inquiry into the reports and submit a report to him,” a Zardari aide told The Telegraph.
Zardari also ordered that immediate relief be provided to all stranded people, including Dalits, the official said, adding that “the President described as unacceptable” any discrimination in providing relief to minorities”.
